CANDLE CARE & FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

24 PALMS

WHAT ARE OUR CANDLES MADE OF?

Our candles are made with clean burning, paraffin free, 100% soy wax. Free from pesticides and herbicides, our focus is on sustainable candles, that are vegan and cruelty free. Our wax is not tested on animals.

Why soy wax? Soy wax is a natural, better option for your health & the environment. It is made by crushing soybeans and hydrogenating the extracted oil, this then causes it to solidify at room temperature & form a wax like consistency. 100% natural, renewable, biodegradable, and non toxic. This delivers a clean burn experience.

And we love clean burning, it means less smoke & soot, and not only that, a soy wax candle will last longer. It has a lower melting point, resulting in a longer burn time. Our 420g candles are large and will give you 70 - 80 + hours of burn time and beautiful scent!

We also use cotton, lead and zinc free wicks & 100% phthalate free fragrance oil.

Plus we hand pour our candles in small batches to make sure you are getting the highest quality candle. We make no more than 6-8 candles at a time.

BURNING GUIDE:

Initial burn / The first burn is a really important step in ensuring you get a good even burn with the best scent throw. Your first burn should be long enough to ensure the top layer of wax has liquified all the way to the edge of the vessel. This may take 1-2 hours. If you blow out you candle before it burns all the way to the edge, your candle will tunnel and not burn out any further when you relight it. Soy wax is considered a memory wax, and will only burn to the point of the initial burn. So let it burn baby, all the way to the edge!

For optimal burning, please trim your wick to 5mm after each burn. This will avoid over heating your vessel and your candle smoking. An un trimmed wick can cause a large flame, which will make your candle burn quicker and your vessel to get hotter than it should. We also recommend you re centre your wick if necessary after extinguishing your candle.

Never burn your candle for longer than 3 hours at a time. This can cause your vessel to overheat. It is also important to discard your candle when there is less than 10mm of wax in the glass.  Never let the wax burn all the way to the bottom of the vessel as the glass may over heat and could crack. It could also cause damage to the surface is it sitting on due to the heat. We recommend placing your candle on a heat resistant surface.

Please remember candles have the potential to be dangerous. Do not leave a candle unattended, and keep away from flammable objects. (clothing, curtains, books - anything flammable) window drafts, children and pets.  Please refer to the bottom of our jars for more safety instructions.

HOW DO I STORE MY 24 PALMS CANDLE?

Always remember to store your 24 PALMS candle in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause your candle to discolour and the scent to dissipate. We also recommend using a glass cloche over your candle. This keeps any dust off, and they look beautiful.

CAN I REUSE MY 24 PALMS VESSEL?

Yes absolutely! When you are down to the last 10mm of wax, you can scoop out any remaining wax with a spoon and wash with warm soapy water. Or, pour some hot water into the jar. The heat will melt the wax, allowing it to collect at the top. Remove and then wash with soapy water. Our jars are perfect for makeup brushes, or as a toothbrush/pen holder. Or why not plant your favourite cactus or herbs in the jar. For me personally I love using my jars for dried flowers. So many uses after your candle is finished.

RECEIVED YOUR CANDLE AND NOTICED SURFACE IMPERFECTIONS OR COLOUR CHANGES IN THE WAX?

This is completely normal. We take so much pride in our candle finishes and like to make sure our tops are silky smooth, however please note during temperature changes, soy wax will some-times release excess oil. This is quite common during the shipping process and is what we call candle 'sweating'. This will not effect your candle in any way and if you wish to remove, please use a paper towel and give the top a gentle wipe over.  From time to time you may also notice the wax may slightly change in colour. This is normal also and more common with citrus fragrances. You may notice these candles are slightly more yellow than others. Again completely normal, and it will not effect the burning or scent of your candle in any way.
